Well, I'm selling my iPod 5G and mini (finally!) and am looking forward to picking up either whatever Apple announces tomorrow or a ZV:M or a Gigabeat:S, and I figure I'm going to upgrade my EX51/Sony Headphone combo too. Now I only have a certain amount of money to spend, so here's my choices:

I. Buy Grado SR225's to use at home and keep the EX51's for on the go.
II. Buy Super.Fi 5's Pro to use on-the-go and at work.
III. Buy cheaper buds and cans for everywhere (Shure E3/Grado SR60?)

I use my buds and headphones about the same time, but normally when I use the headphones its quiet and the buds are used in a noisy place.

What's your guys' opinion?

For some odd reason, the super.fi 5 pros sound better in a noisy/open enviroment; dunno why.

I'd say it's about balance... if I were you I'd probably go with:

On the go: Etymotic ER-6i

Work/Office: Grado SR-125 or Sennheiser HD-555 or Beyerdynamic DT-770

For work and office, depends on if you're a grado guy, or a Sennheiser guy. I just threw the Beyer in there because some people swear by that sound too, and there is a comparable can in that price range
