Super.fi 5 Pro vs Super.fi 5 vi

I was wondering which of these headphones I should get. I will be using these with an iPhone 3G and all my music is encoded at 256kbps AAC. I listen to a variety of music, but mostly rap and alternative so bass is important. The only reason I am looking at the vi model is because of the microphone/button. Is there any way I could get a cable like that for the Super.fi 5 Pros? That would be ideal but are the vi's even comparable to the Pros? I would appreciate any help/suggestions for this noob

Another question...I saw on these forums that UE might be soon making a cable that has a microphone but no button? Any more info on that?

There are an infinite number of adapter cables out there that take your 3.5mm headphone plug through a button with a mic. down to a 2.5mm plug to plug into a phone. Just google " Iphone headphone adapter "

Last I heard, UE's rap. is insisting that the company will not sell the vi cable individually. Lets hope that will change.

they're bad boys. i heard that the 5vi drivers aren't as high quality as the 5pro's...as reflectd in the price.

The Pro's seem to be more of a serious IEM than the Vi's. However the Vi's are nice since they can be worn little more traditional bud headphones (sometimes nice for quick changes).

for sq the pro's are prob. the better cans but the vi's look smaller and can more easily be worn traditional style rather then over the ear

I have some Supr.Fi 5 pros. I use the double flanged tips and I have tried them in the traditional way to wear them and I reversed the cords and thereby the direction that the IEM's fit into the ears and I have to say the SQ is better in the former traditonal way. but the over the ear cable MOD is a tighter fit and may be better for excercise.

Either way they stayed pretty snug in my ears.
The cord is a little stiff and may cause some microphonics when rubbing against your neck or clothing

K sounds good thanks for the help! I have heard that the cord issue is solved with the new cords they are including in the Super.fi 5 pros. I am going to get these Ultimate Ears super.fi 5 Pro, Black FREE SHIPPING. - eBay (item 280283906998 end time Dec-09-08 08:17:22 PST)

hey i got a quick question about the pair i bought, it is exactly the one u r buying, i though super fi pro 5 comes with clear cables instead of solid black cables? i just wanna know if i bought the right thing or...

How can I ensure that if I buy a pair I get the 2009 sets with the better cables? What are the differences ?

The super.fi 5 pros used to come with clear cables but now (the 2009 edition) they will come with black ones that have a straight jack (instead of the L shaped jack). If you buy the ones that I linked on eBay or from soundearphones.com, you will get the new ones. Other than them being black and having a straight jack, I am not sure of any other differences.
