For using with an iPod without an amp which one would be better, Super.fi 5 Pro or ER4P??? Taking in consideration BASS, DETAILED SOUND and COMFORT

Thanks

I had a question similar to this a while back. Which one tastes better, broccoli or carrots?

Impossible to answer which one sounds better....one has a lot more bass, one has a lot more treble.
I'd say the Superfi is more comfortable though

Bass......SF Pro
Detailed Sound......ER4P
Comfort......SF Pro

To my ears, of course. I find the SF Pros to provide a much richer, fuller sound with a much larger soundstage, although they do sacrifice some of the details. The details are there, but the sound signature is skewed toward the lower end of the frequency range. Hope this helps.

I'm going to have to pretty much agree with joe. The 5pro and er4 are on opposite ends of the spectrum, imo. The er4 being very detailed and light on the bass, while the 5pro is fairly detailed, but lacking in the high end, but has a good amount of bass.

Which one you should get obviously depends on preference, but since you were vague and said ipod w/o amp, I'm going to guess the 5pro will be better for you.

Taking into conderation:
Bass: er4p - tighter bass; 5pro - much more bass (still pretty tight, but not near as tight as er4p)
My preference: 5pro
Detailed sound: er4 - epitome of detailed sound, imo
5pro - more detailed than cheaper phones, but less detailed than the er4p by a fair margin.
My preference: er4
Comfort: er4p - comfortable inside the ear (for me), but sticks out so doesn't feel quite so stable, imo.
5pro - larger diameter stem, but doesn't go as far into the ear canal. it also doesn't feel as stable as some other canalphones for me, but the over-the-ear cable helps.
My preference: 5pro

I agree with earlier posts, but another consideration is isolation. The Etys isolate more, so if you are using on trains, planes etc. the Etys have an advantage. I am glad to have both.

So true....one headphone is like a wrench, one headphone is like a screwdriver. They both fulfill different purposes.

the ER4-P is very comfortable to me, but the bas does have issues. When I am lying in bed at 2AM and there is no outside noise, the bass is perfect and very tight and defined. It extedends VERY low. But then when I'm walking around campus I can tell the bass is lacking. All unamped of course

No ER4P experience, so no comparisons here. I think the sound of the 5Pros is very solid and detailed, especially for portable use, and the bass response really is amazing. Also, I have worn my 5Pros for long periods, on trains, planes, and automobiles (cabs to/from airports), and when exercising. I think they are very comfortable, secure, and quite isolating at reasonable to loud listening levels. Also, I recently asked the woman next to me on a plane if she could hear any sound leaking out when I was playing them frankly too loud, and she heard nothing. The foam and bi-flange tips isolate very well if you can make the latter fit for you. I personally use the foamies and the smallest tips for comfort.

Well I think it would be a fair comparison with an amp. ER4P really need an amp to make them shine. Super.fi 5 pros sound better with amp but don't really need it. For this fact I go with the Super.fi 5 pros. More bass, less detail. I find without an amp ER4P have turn the volume almost all the way up at the gym. My brother who listens to music louder then I do. Says he can't turn the volume up enough.

Actually if I were comparing the two I go with the er6is and "Super.fi 5 pros". I think the er6i sound better unamped then the ER4P. There is also more bass in the er6i's.
