I just caught myself depressed and listening to Judas Priest's Stained Class album on repeat purely by conicidence.

After the CD had been spinning for about 15 hours, I remembered that around 12 years ago, a lawsuit was filed by parents against Judas Priest because two kids comitted suicide together after smoking a lot of marijuana, drinking a lot and listening to Stained Class all night on repeat.

And I couldn't help but wonder... "Maybe they were trying to burn in a new pair of tubes?"

Makes you wonder. Better by you, better than me.

Damm kelly, you almost freaked me out with that title post!

I can see the headlines now:

Head-Fier found dead.
Note reads "I have finally found audio nirvana but it was through a portable with crappy headphones.
Goodbye cruel world!"
The body was found with one hand stuck in a tube socket and the other in a glass of water.
Surprisingly the tube amp still works.

BTW when I'm depressed I listen to some old Black Sabbath and/or old Ozzie.

bootman
I'm usually all about Black Sabbath, The Cure and Joy Division. But for some reason I've gotten into the habit of breaking in gear on Judas Priest. I guess because of the vocal range and strong bass drum presence.

Rob Halford, lead singer I believe, had one incredible voice. British Steel was my favorite CD for quite a long time, followed by Screaming for Vengeance. Ram it Down was also some of their better work they did more recently.

Well, as for suicide, Kelly made me wonder if we were going to have one less racoon in this world. I am happy to see it's not going to happen.

Anyway, if I remember, Ozzy Ozbourne got in trouble for a song entitled "Suicide Solution". I wonder why rockers are such an easy target when placing the blame on something like that. Remember Columbine and Rammstein? Those two trenchcoated idiots liked that band, and everybody was thinking "Du Hast", with the growling vocals in German, was an evil song that somehow pushed them to kill a bunch of teens. Hell, it's a love song!!! How come nobody blames Shakespeare when a young couple commits suicide, or Rimbaud when someone eviscerates a person, or Nietzche when a skinhead with social-darwinistic tendencies beats up an africanamerican person. Nope, people blame Blue Oyster Cult, Cannibal Corpse or Screwdriver (well, skinhead rock sucks anyway).

Well, I am sorry for the rant. I need a hot capuccino.

So i was about to use that to lighten up a serious report about suicide. And then it struck me, No person outside of the head fi community would understand it.

The Judas Priest case was infamous.  As I recall, it was actually a "subliminal message" case where the idiot that actually survived after shooting himself in the face with a 12 gauge shotgun claimed there was a subliminal message in the song that told him and his friend to kill themselves.  (How do you *miss* when you shoot yourself in the face with a 12 gauge?)  Here's your sign...
