P.S.I went through various Cambridge Soundworks, HK SoundSticks, JBL Creatures, AudioEngine A5, Klipsch iFi, Bose Companion etc. before finally settling on these - they're great. The AudioEngines were good but are useless without a subwoofer.

Audioengine A2. The B&W MM-1 might be worth a look when they come out, but pricing and availability is still TBA, probably higher than your budget, as is the Dynaudio BM5A's.

will be using an Xonar Essence St as the source. remember i got 600 dollars to blow so money aint really an issue.

Either the MM-1 or the BM5A are closer to $900. You'd get even better sound from an Amphion Ion, but that's more like $1450.
