Hey guys,
I'm looking to buy a tube amp to warm up my AKG K601s.  I'm looking specifically to increase the soundstage, warm up the mids, and reduce the shrillness and precision of the highs.  I'm also looking to just have a much bigger sound and less of a feeling that I'm listening to headphones.

I currently own the meier-corda arietta.  It's done the job for some time now.  But I'm looking for something different.

I happened upon the Bravo Audio Ocean Amp, and it looks great, but I'm wondering whether I should spend more.  How much a difference will I note with a more expensive amp?  Any suggestions on a better selection?

Thanks

With a 120 ohm impedance your most likely looking at a hybrid amp versus a full tube amp unless you get a transformer output amp and they don't come cheap. Have not heard the Ocean so can't say how warm it is. The Project Ember is one I have heard and it quite good not sure how tube rolling can darken it up you can check out the threads on it. After a bit of tube rolling I have my Bottlehead Crack playing fairly nice with my HD 700's. They are 150 ohm cans and the Crack wants 300 or higher. Got a new tube coming in tomorrow that might help even more. Soundstage is going to be more the headphones than a amp some amps and DAC's will help out but I think the headphones play a bigger part in it. The Project Ember ran Planars very well also that is what I heard it with.

I'm confused... The ocean amp is spec'd for 20-500 ohm cans. Are there cans that it drives much better than others?

It's a hybrid amp so it can just about any kind. I was talking about OTL tube amp.
