I usually use my 650s at home, my livewires if I want to remain cut off from the world, my koss if I'm jogging. Nevertheless, there is one situation where I do not have a headphone for; studying at a restaurant, where I might want to start talking with a person every so often.. and don't want to have to take the livewires out of my ear everytime.

I could use SR325is (if I had them), or SR60s (if I decided to ask for them back from a friend of mine), but.. both of these leak sound pretty easily.. so I was really hoping for some suggestions on a closed set.

Thanks for the help.

Ixnay on the PX200. The AKG K414P sucks less.
Ixnay on the D1001. They don't block out sound sufficiently for restaurants.
Maybe on the HD280, but I'd only recommend these if you can try them on.
I lean towards the K81DJs myself, but yes, big heads might experience some pain. Smaller heads will experience less isolation than the HD280s, but I think it'll do.
And finally, x2 on the push-to-hear. Or you could just turn the music off on your player...

Sennheiser HD 25's are really nice closed portable headphones, great sound quality and good isolation. They're a bit out of your budget, but they do have a budget version, the HD 25 SP. I dunno how the sound quality compares, but it might be something to look into.

No one recommends the SPs here, but that seems to be because they're compared very unfavourably against the non-SPs. But yea, I wonder how they compare to the other options listed here.

The 25-II's have a splittable headband while the SP's have a simpler 1 piece headband. That's the easiest way to tell. I've also read about SP's having lower sound quality as well. Beyond the headband and SQ I don't know what other differences there are.

I have PX200s and ATH-ON3s and after suitable burn in (around 30hrs) the ON3s are a better listen, more dynamic , more fun and more comfy.
They dont sound anything special straight out the box with flappy bass and sparkly highs but they settle down fast, i noticed a difference in 3 hrs.
These really are a quality bargain imo.
