Thanks for the great response everyone.
I was posting a reply like this to clear things up after just two or three responses, but something happened and it wasn't submitted and I just haven't had time since.
Firstly, I will be doing some video editing and a lot of photo editing, so power is good, but I won't be gaming.
I would have gone for the desktop/netbook combination but I must take a train to university and the cost of shipping or storing a desktop would be too high. I don't drive and don't have parents or whatever for a ride and because of the location, hiring someone would be too expensive.
With all due respect, I know what PC stands for but I think everyone also knows what it means, I could have said I wanted a 'Windows machine', but that includes Macs.
MacBooks are lovely but having used both Windows and OSX for a quite some time, I don't think the OS or machine aesthetics can justify MacBook prices (UK) at the moment.
I really don't want a 'gaming' laptop from Alienware or Asus, there would me more cons than pros for me.
I had never heard of Origin until now!
People have mentioned ThinkPad T510 - that was my original interest but the W510 has nice extras like USB 3.0 and if things get desperate and it's too bulky for use on the go, I'll sell my eQ-7!
I think I'm goig to be doing a lot more searching and reading!
