Using an odac/O2, what closed cans would folks recommend for varied musical tastes in the sub-$500 range? I like punchy, tight, and extended bass, a wide soundstage, and clear highs with a little sparkle. Think experimental jazzy electronically RnB classic classical...etc.

Currently using ath-m50x for closed and akg q702 for open - I love the detail and soundstage on the akgs, and have started to loathe the m50xs as a result - but I spend most my day listening to them! Time to upgrade...

Oppo pm-3? Meze 99 classic? Some newer audio Technica? I had some ath-a700 a long time ago, really liked them.

Beyerdynamic DT 770 - incredible bass/sub-bass, wide soundstage for a closed can and sharp clear highs

Audio-Technica ATH-A1000Z - less bass than DT 770 but still enjoyable, incredible soundstage for closed cans, crystal clear sparkly highs

For great clarity, Beyerdynamic T70 (250-Ohm) headphones.

Thoughts on the audioTechnica A1000Z vs Beyer T70?...I like the idea of the audeze SINE with larger pads (got links?) but wouldn't the smaller cups get hot? I'd probably have them on my head 6+ hours a day...
The Meze are gorgeous, but almost too much so! They make me feel self-conscious just looking at them, I can't imagine how I'd feel wearing that thing like a crown every day. But if they sound nearly as good as they look...

I do think the SINE is the best closed-back I've owned under $1,000.

It got the top spot in this thread: https://www.head-fi.org/threads/comparisons-36-of-the-top-closed-portable-headphones-around.672743

I used them with the stock pads and never had issues with heat, but this is subjective.

The way you connect aftermarket pads is by using 3D adapters. (Google it for various ones.)
