PX100's, Philips HP170's (if you can find them), both very sweet Sup $40 phones

The 100's are small open portables, and the Hp170's are light, ultra comfortable, over-ear phones. I bought a pair 4.5 years ago, and they are still kickin.

Oh, and from what Ive read, the Sennheiser 202's, 212's, eh150's and eh250's arent the most comfortable headphones, because they are "semi-circum aural".

The Philips HP170 is (was?) pretty good in its price range, but there's better available. It's been a few years since I last listened to some HP170's, but I remember it had good clarity and a "fun" though boomy sound. I think the Panasonics mentioned earlier are probably the best bet under $40 if you don't mind the supposed piercing highs. I personally don't find the highs to be a problem, but there were a number of people who found them unbearable. Depends on your ears I suppose.
