Tubed is preferable, and it's going to go into my SRD-6. My sound sig prefs are deep, tight, controlled bass (I LOVE the bass on my RE0) and wide soundstage with great instrument seperation, and an involving, energetic sound with the classic tube warmth and presence (these are the things I seek to improve by purchasing an amp.)
Since I have a $300 (can be extended a little bit, but no more than $50) budget, I'm opening up my options to used and vintage components [edit: as well as beginner-intermediate DIY projects). Comments on your current speaker amp, whether fed to an energizer or speakers, are welcome. Thanks.
Edit: I'm bidding on a fairly cheap Scott unit on eBay right now, so I guess I'll see how that pans out.
