so let me first go through what i've used before

sony mrd-ex71/81 i forget (terrible build quality)
creative ep630 (free with laptop, haven't really used them)
Razer m|100 protone (got em cheap off woot.com, currently using)
sennheiser cx300 (cheap off ebay - sound like ####, probably fake)

so, I'm looking for sub $100 (40-70ish i guess) headphones. the cheaper the better i guess.

i listen to techno, r&b, alternative, pop, indie (so lots of different music)
looking for a earphones with good sound quality and yea, i just want something thats very clear and clean. basically a very balanced phones, no super bass either.

First, I'd suggest breaking in those creative and give them a try. They're supposed to be the same as the Senn cx300 with different style cables. I'm pretty happy with them for when I'm out and about. Otherwise it's Grado sr80's for me!

For a warm sound, try Sennheiser PX 100. They are sort of bassy, but that's good for your techno, r&b, and pop. I love my pair and I listen to the other stuff you listed. Mostly indie...

I'd also second the SR-80. The warmest Grado headphone that I've heard.

*edit*

Earphones? Psshht, I thought you were wanting good sound. My bad.

In that case, crack open your EP-630's.

No one recommended the UM1 yet? It's a little bit more than $100 but not that much.

I'm getting a free pair of EP630's in the mail with my Dell laptop too, I'm pretty pumped to see what all the hype is about!

most of these posts are for headphones, did he not mention he wants either an IEM or an ECH? I would say that the X3 is good but has some durability issues from my experience and though accurate, isnt always fun sounding. If you require isolation, I would recommend the er6i for their balance, if that is what your after. They have good sound, but definately no superbass there.
