stupid question about SACD...

Single-layer SACD discs will only play on an SACD player.

Hybrid SACD discs have both an SACD layer, AND a Redbook layer. When played on a regular (non-SACD) player, it will use the Redbook layer for playback.

It should say on the packaging if a disc is single-layer SACD or Hybrid.

Yep, thanks again.

I was buying a copy of Derrick and the Dominoes "Layla" on-line and at the last second I noticed it said SACD (didn't notice the "hybrid" part). I needed to know berfore I clicked on the "Checkout" button. It's a hybrid disc so it will play on my redbook (NAD) player.
