Hi,

This is my first post although I have read this forum on and off for quite some time.

I need a pair of closed headphones for when I work with Logic Pro on my Macbook.

I used Logic a decade earlier but had active near studio speaker ( Yamaha ). Now I live in a flat and don't wish pain on my neighbours, I decided I should use some good headphones. After reading endless reviews, I realised I did not have a clue what I liked and though to ask here for advise.

My favourite and only portable headphones I use are the Audio Technica ATH-EC700.  I bought a pair from Japan when they first came out ( ATH-EC700 TI ) lost them years later, and then bought another pair in 2014  (ATH-EC700 GM) and they sounded the same.  I have a back up pair in case I lose them:  I love the sound they produced when the foam pads were on. Without the foam peds they sounded too harsh.

So given Audio Technica ATH-EC700 are my preference for daily listening, what should I be looking at for a pair of studio headphones that excel in detail/clarity, and not too heavy on my head?  ( total sound isolated not required since I'll really be at home working ).

Or perhaps I could just use these ATH EC700 ear-bud head phones for working :)

My budget up to 200 eur/usd/gbp.
Use: Logic Pro  / DAW in general.

Grateful for ideas or direction.

Thanks!
Sophie.

So your into music/audio production (Logic Pro).
So you really need headphones for analyzing audio, not music enjoyment.

Sony MDR-V6 or MDR-7506 headphones, they usually sell for under $100.

Thanks I'll read up on them.
The KRKs sell for less than 100 euros. How would they compare?

6400 75 eur
8400 100 eur
mdr-7506  98 eur
mdr-v6 could not find a price in Belgium.

I've owned the KRK 8400 and MDR-V6, think I liked the MDR-V6 slightly more.
But I have not used either one in years, so would not put much weight on my opinion.

The MDR-V6 and MDR-7506 are about 90% the same.
