Hi,

Two questions, from the point of view of a UW graduate student with no car and a strong desire not to rent one:

1. Does anyone know whether there's a shuttle to the Marriott from O'Hare (which I can get to by a Van Galder bus)?
2. Is someone driving there that wouldn't mind a generous guy tagging along? Generous as in gas, food, etc.

If you were generous in terms of a blockhead or a meridan CDP I'd be more than willing to drive there from Denver and taxi you around myself. ;-)

Hey, I used to live in Eagle Heights while getting an MS at UW-M. What a great place (except for the weather). I used to ride my bike from Madison-Chicago (150 miles about 10 hours...). You could get in lots of time on your portable that way.....

Sorry, no bike either. Maybe I could wear out a set of wheels on my rollerblades.

James,

If you are at Ohare call American Taxi, for $20 or so they will take you there. The site really isn't that far South of Ohare.

If you do not mind going early and staying late I could pick you up. I was lucky enough to be selected as a volunteer. It would be a little out of my way but I would be glad to do it.

Let me know

I have every intention of going, but no specific plans at this point. It seems like everything I need to do is happening on June 5th. I will be leaving Madison early a.m. to take care of some business in Rockford, IL. At this point I don't know exactly what time I have to be there, or for how long. I'm estimating 4-6 hours. Then I'm heading over to Elmhurst.

I don't know how adventurous you are...

Thanks everyone for your responses!

acidtripwow - do you know how late the public buses run?

ChenaynayC - good heavens, that's generous of you! If all else fails, I will let you know. Incidentally, everything is happening the next day for me -- leaving for Italy!

john_jcb - Thank you very much for the tip. I won't inconvenience you; would hate to hinder your noble cause. Moreover, the Van Galder buses stop running rather early.

Argh, I can't believe it, I'm sending in my HD600's for service tomorrow (intermittancy, balance problem, a just-discovered broken bracket). What bad timing, but hopefully they will be fixed by the time I get back from Europe.

It depends on which bus. You can go to www.pacebus.com to see the schedules. There is also a trip planner that you can click on and enter a starting address and an ending address and it will list which buses you need to take to get there. Remember that Route 83 is also known as York Road.

Hope you make it. If you find you need a ride after all drop me a note

I'm going to write up a little something about the Chicago show after I return from Europe, but first I have to give my props to the guys here:

Tyll, you are the MAN. The guy who won the free T-shirt didn't show up, so the Prez unexpectedly gave me the prize instead. For those without the pleasure, the T-shirt is a real beaut, embroidered logo and all.

The trip down from Madison was flawless; john_jcb's suggestions were perfect. Most of all, my most grateful thanks to ChenaynayC, as she drove me back from Chicago even though she doesn't even live in Madison. Moreover, we had a great conversation along the way; what a most fulfilling two-hour drive! Thanks again, ChenaynayC, I will look for a nice CDP for you next time I visit Taiwan.

You all know this, but I'll say it again: you head-fi guys are just the best.

James
