I much prefer the street style for my walks in the park. The set I have, cheap Koss, are ok for talking books and mp3 talk shows. They are completely unacceptable for music.

Are there any street style that could be called "hi-fi"? What are the best street style for music?

Well, if you don't want to go through the trouble of modding phones, you know Koss has quite a few different models, a lot of them suck. Maybe one of their better ones, like the ksc-75 or ksc-35 would be worth looking into, I consider them to be one of ..if not the best sounding phones for under $50. Not bad for a $20 investment.
They're both clip-ons, not exactly what you were looking for, but close.

Then there's the ksc-55, which is a behind-the-head phone and uses the same driver as the afore mentioned ksc-75 & 35, but I haven't listened to them and only know what I've read here. Which is that they sound similar to the others, but either the headband fits, or it doesn't, like there's almost no in-between.

If you've got something like the ksc-17 or p 16, I think you'll be pleasantly suprised by the 35,75 or 55. There are people here with thousand dollar+ headphone rigs that have one or more of these as portable phones.
Here's a link to a ksc 35 & 75 thread.

The KSC-55's should fit your bill just perfectly. I'm sure you'll find them to be much better to the crappy KSC-15's you probably have like everyone else.

Thanks for the responses, looks like the Koss KSC-55 is about the best there is available in street style.

I just ordered them for $12.42, will be delivered next week.

sony mdr-g74sls. only sony street styles worth buying. there was a post comparing the g74s with the senn px series a while ago, and i think whoever did that thought they were pretty good, compared to the px100 and 200s. in canada, kinda expensive (at least when i got them) but sound better than most sony streetstyles.
