Strange Grado RS-1 Pizza box-

Hi, found this one,

Have never seen this box shipped whit the RS-1's.


Any thoughts?

I think that is the outer cardboard box that came with the wooden boxes that RS-1's used to come with in the good ol' days.

I know next to nothing about vintage Grados but just wondering if that is the box that came with the wooden box version why does the RS-1 pictured on the site have a black leather headband instead of a brown one? Just curious I am probably completely off base on this one.

I think some RS-1s came with the wooden box but did not have the brown leather headband, not 100% sure though that's my guess.

Not all wooden box RS1 came with brown headbands.

It looks to me like the vintage card board box is what's pictured in the OP. It's not an outer box for a wood box though, just a cardboard/foam insert inside.

It is the outer box for the wooden box as I still have my rs1s with brown headband & gold lettering I bought in 1995.

Sorry, that didn't come across right, I meant that my old cardboard box like the one pictured in the original post wasn't an outer box for a wooden box. The one in the OP could very well be but I was just pointing out that it wasn't necessarily the case.

Ok,I see your point.John must have continued using the outer box without the wooden box.

I think mine might have been from a short period right after he stopped using the wooden box because they didn't come with the extension or adapter.
