[Story]The story of FiiO UTWS5--From @FiiO Willson

Hello and thank you for your answer.
I am undecided between the EMPs:
Layla Aion you just answered.
The 64 Audio Forté or 18s.
The Final x Dita.
Can you tell me if one or two are compatible with?
I am using an Astell & Kern Sp 2000 and an iPhone 12
Thank you for your reply
The 64 Audio Forté or 18s seems to use the recessed 0.78 connector, so the UTWS5 may not compatible with it. But a convertor could help about that generally.
The Final x Dita seems to use the MMCX connector so the UTWS5 may be compatible with it.
Just for your reference.

Best regards

Sorry the charging case's side of UTWS5 same as the UTWS3. You may try to adjust the direction of the unit in the charging case when charging to see whether it helps?

You could check this picture share by other user: https://www.head-fi.org/threads/fii...ndent-ak4332-dac.959856/page-25#post-16681333

That’s ok thanks for letting me know! The sound is amazing. I actually decided to use my JH Lola’s as wired IEMs again so i‘m trying to figure out a mid range IEM to get to go with the UTSW3. Maybe in the $600 or $700 range

Had these a few days now. Definitely better than the 3. Does it match ifi idsd micro? Of course not! But it sounds close enough to the btr5 2021 and qudelix 5k that the convenience is worth ir. I'll play with it some more and report back. Running on ier z1r

Chapter 2 Is There a Chance for UTWS5 to Support LDAC, LHDC and aptX Lossless?

This chapter made me instantly order the UTWS5 because of its future potential to support LDAC and possibly aptX Lossless.

One issue I have though is that none of your products deliver transmission of aptX Adaptive. This means only source can be Android with correct chips. Can you not make LDAC support available in a beta release to allow enthusiasts greater compatibility with your transmitting products?

Even support for aptX HD would be a benefit as most of your transmitters support this.

Chapter 2 Is There a Chance for UTWS5 to Support LDAC, LHDC and aptX Lossless?

Regarding what you care about:

At present, it can be said that the UTWS5 is the most powerful Bluetooth earhook model in the HiFi industry. Many users asked whether it would support hi-res codecs, such as LDAC/LHDC and aptX lossless.

To let our users understand our plan more clearly, we would like to make an explanation here. Since the UTWS5 uses Qualcomm's flagship QCC5141 chip, which is currently Qualcomm's flagship programmable Bluetooth chip, quad-core processor system including dual 120MHz audio DSP and dual-core programmable SoC, and supports the latest ADK, it has many chances to upgrade. The actual situation of the 3 hi-res Bluetooth codecs is as follows.

LHDC:
As you all know, LHDC has been successfully applied to TWS headphones. But since it is our first time using the QCC5141, we had to be serious during the R&D process with many tests. We have initially confirmed that LHDC can be applied to the UTWS5, but we still need to further optimize the software.

LDAC:
Since LDAC is still under debugging in Qualcomm's TWS solution, we have not involved it into the UTWS5. If we can make breakthroughs, we will upgrade the UTWS5 with LDAC support.

aptX Lossless:
The UTWS5 supports Qualcomm Snapdragon sound suite of technologies. It is quite excellent at present. Since the aptX Lossless has just been released, and has not yet been widely applied, there is no chip support it. So the UTWS5 does not support it temporarily. If Qualcomm can support aptX Lossless on the QCC5141 platform stably in the future, we will also consider following up.

Can you not add aptX Adaptive transmission to your DAP firmware so that you have devices which can actually transmit this codec?

Sorry no, our players do not support APTX adaptive in TX mode.

Since the UTWS5 is based on Bluetooth 5.2, does this mean you could add LC3plus? It’s an open standard, which should mean that the license is zero cost.

Also, what about aptX HD? We know that can be added to Linux systems with software alone. At least with aptX HD, you’d offer great quality audio to your DAP customers.

@FiiO when will the new firmware be released... thanks
I hope it will be available this month. The engineer plan to release it soon but they still found some problem in the firmware.

Best regards

Would these be compatible with Thieaudio Voyager 14?

@FiiO Now that the firmware update adding LHDC is out, Please can you enable LHDC on the M11 Plus (ESS) so that I can get the best audio quality with my UTWS5? It is freely available in Android 10 and therefore there should be no reason not to add it to the firmware for this DAP. https://gitlab.com/savitech-lhdc
