I'm not a big fan of Nosound but I'm curious to hear their new album with Chris.  And I agree with you that Pineapple Thief and Nosound are low-grade PT wannabes.

I'm also very excited about the new Riverside. (Shrine Of New Generation Slaves)

Nice avatar by the way [IMG]

The new song Feel Like Falling is really good.

Where did you hear it? I only heard the album trailer which had half of two songs. I didn't see a leak for it (other than fake ones) but I did preorder it. Send me a PM if you know.

Mike Mettler, editor-in-chief for Sound+Vision: “I think the fact that the band played live in the studio comes across really well. The intuitive interplay that musicians of this caliber have…they basically cultivated it on tour for Steven’s previous record. You could actually see them meshing together in ways that even when Steven was onstage, he would stop what he was doing to watch them because clearly he had never seen it. You could really tell this was a special group, and for him to record this live was monumental for him because he’s never done it before. You can hear the way that these guys work together, and in a 5.1 [surround sound] setting, there’s no listening to this record in stereo. You wouldn’t want to. You would miss half of the experience.”

I like the album. It's quite good. Is it Raven good? No. Still quite good though.

I own all of them except for ADHD (the last one) because I thought it sucked. Do you also have their mini three track album from 2011? It's quite good, too.

And as far as these reviewers saying we have to listen in 5.1 to fully appreciate it, screw 'em. Good headphones don't come in 5.1. And a well mastered 2 channel album sounds better than a cheesy surround mix. Some of the PT 5.1 material sounds quite cheesy. Maybe Raven is better, but Raven in 2 channel is already stupendous and I'm highly satisfied with it. I'd rather listen through my reference headphone system any day over a run of the mill 5.1 setup like most people have.

I got the limited edition of the new Riverside yesterday and I have to say that I'm very impressed so far, the album is better than what I thought initially.  Yes I have also the mini album that they did in 2011, it's very good.

For the 5.1 mix, we'll see later but for now I'm still very very impressed by the SQ of the stereo mix.

I've also found an "evaluation" copy.
Only listened to it 3 times so far but it is Brilliant! and really nicely recorded....even on this mp3 copy.

I'm going over to Kscope to order it...question is...which version??

Also listening to the "evaluation version". I am in the shock and awe phase with this album. Stunning IQ, how I wish all music was recorded this way.

Definitely one of the better prog albums in recent years. Love all even tracks! Though I still like PT more than SW's solo work including this album, its an easy preorder.
Have a few beers, put on your favorite headphones, turn on title track and stare at the album cover. Whoa!

Wow, saw an add for his live show supporting this album, and that touring band is a killer!

Guthrie Govan is a guitar-nerd hero.  Nick Beggs on bass has been around forever (fans of 80's one-hit wonders may remember him from Kajagoogoo; or maybe not.  He's actually got a huge discography and is an industry pro).  Marco Minnemann has played with guitar greats Mike Keneally (from Frank Zappa's band), Paul Gilbert and Tony MacAlpine among others.

You who get to see this live have a damn fine show to look forward to.
