I am deaf in one ear. Can anyone point me to an earpiece (in ear or hook over ear lobe) that would allow me to listen to my digital audio player without using just one piece of a stereo headphone set. I did buy an inexpensive mono earpiece but not surprisingly the sound through it is is really poor.

Suggestions welcome.

What DAP do you have?

If it's like an iPod, use Rockbox on it, then force it to Mono.

It's a Sansa Express - fairly new and very basic.

Get one of these:

The ring and sleeve pins inside your DAP (or any other 1/8" source) will both land on the sleeve of the adapter. That way you'll get the left and right signals both fed into both ears.

It works very well in the one-eared listening situation you've described.

stereo-to-mono adapters are pretty common - popular among people who listen to a lot of audiobooks.

Sometimes audiobooks are recorded in stereo, and the result, on headphones, can be very disorienting and unpleasant.
