After hours and hours of research, decided on these mirage speakers as my first real stereo setup. Gets confusing with ohm impedance and bloated wattage claims with receivers. Don't really want to spend more than $200. These will be in a small bedroom, currently own logitech z-2300 computer speakers hooked up to my pc for music/movies, want something better, they get loud enough for me.
Will be getting a sub later, wouldn't wanna spend more than $200 on that either.
Will be connecting m-audio revolution card to receiver, anyone wanna tell me how that all connects? Don't have chance to listen to anything i want to buy since i don't drive...yet. Thanks for any help/suggestions.

That would work, but your title is misleading as you said you wanted a stereo receiver, not a surround receiver.

Actually, a surround receiver has the benefit of taking a digital out whereas many stereo only receivers don't. You would find a cable to go from minijack (on your soundcard) feed that into your digital in (RCA plug) on the receiver. Radio Shack probably sells something that would work. In a small bedroom, you should really be worried about bloated claims because almost every standalone receiver can fill your room with sound, especially since the Mirage speakers are not considered inefficient.
