I just bought a Denon DCM 777 CD player, my amp is the Harman Kardon AVR 125, and I have tried hooking it up and was not able to get any music and there is power. The women that I bought it from said that it works fine. It powers up, it shuffles thru the 6 CDs and returns to the beginning, but will not play. I would like to hookup the existing RC cables but not sure if they are correct. PLEASE HELP Thank You for your time.

When it shuffles and returns to the beginning, does the display show that it's actually playing, ie the run time plays out?

If it just attempts to read until it gets back to the start, it's not even playing. Either the CD laser head or even the transport (if you can't hear it spinning, ie why people use SSDs and music servers now to be absolutely rid of any noise), or there's something with the CD that it can't read. Like if it's a CD-R, or it's a very new disc with PC-only content that is put at the inner ring area. That latter part normally isn't a problem on newer transport units which interpret some syntax in there to scan outward to find the pure audio layer, but older CDPs can't interpret that syntax and just assume the optical media isn't an audio CD.

If it at least runs through the run time of the tracks, it's highly likely the CD transport works fine, but the signal isn't getting processed. How exactly is it connected to the receiver?
