i had a good customer service experience with Stephan Brocksiper, the Earmax Pro manufacturer, and thought i would share.
some of you might know that i had doubts if my EMP works 100% fine, after some problems with the DT880 combo. i sent Stephan the unit for checkup. he invested some of his time with the HD600, DT880 and CD3000, also tested the tubes and reported back to me. the unit is 100% fine, i just listen to intense music in loud volumes

i asked for a new volume pot cover (it was not very shiny), and he also installed new RCA jacks, as mine has lost some of their coating (my unit is a few years old).

total service cost: 25 euros.
payment: i send him the money later when i get the unit, Stephan has shown trust.

oh, and the man doesn't know how to charge a visa

he works in the "traditional" way - don't have any e-mail, and he doesn't distribute his products on the net. that's just the way it is..
overall, a very kind man, highly recommended !

Apparently an old-fashioned guy. Reminds me a bit on myself... I even don't know how a credit card works.

But good to know that there's somebody who's really interested in his own product and proud of it. I like such people. Just pity that he doesn't have an e-mail address.

He doesn't, but these guys do, and they are very nice and competent. I got my EMP from them. Brocksieper buys tubes from them. They're called the Tube Amp Doctor.

Sugano-san,
i'm aware that others sell the amp on the net - but Brocksiper doesn't do it himself. but good to know - i don't know the one you have mentioned.

Rob N,
i don't think so.. but maybe you can get him interested, who knows

Adam Zuf, it was my intention to spread the word that the Tube Amp Doctor is offering the Earmax and Earmax Pro over the internet, because I find these guys really nice and competent, and it makes me happy that this appears to be interesting news.

Hi toaster,

yes, it looks the same, but believe me, what appears to be gold lettering (and I assume you refer to the few shiny letters on top of the square box that are barely visible behind the tubes) is merely a reflection of the lighting that was used for shooting the photos. The box is made of die-cast plastic, and the letters are a part of the plastic material; they form the word BROCKSIEPER.

The attachment shows the Earmax Pro from a different angle. It's easier to see that there is no gold lettering.

The following link shows two Earmaxes (blue is apparently no longer available), but from a different angle and with a gold-colored sticker (attached by the US distributor??) covering the word BROCKSIEPER.

Hope this is helpful.

I thought so.

I have the standard Earmax Pro too. It looks as if the lettering should be gold, I painted my Earmax Pro gold, the lettering.
