O.K., O.K. I am sick, and tired of this crap about people on this forum thinking their equipment is perfect. So, why don't you step up like a real man, and tell me something that is wrong with your system. Don't cry it will be O.K.
My system:
HD-600s - Hump, at 100 Hertz.
Wheatfield HA-2 - Lacks speed, and precision.
Cardas Golden Cross - Lacks air in comparson to other silver designs.
Beyer DT-770 pros - Lack of openness, maybe a little exaggerated bass.
Headroom Max - Lack of emotion in the midrange which all solid-state amps contain.
Sony SCD-C555ES - Advancing forward to the next disc takes forever!

My 501's bass response is rolled off.

Ok, ...I'll admit it. My system only sounds "killer" when I listen to it. However, it sucks when it's turned off. So there....Anyone else want to step up to the plate?

How's this for honesty:

Sony D-171 PCDP - skips a ridiculous amount....a RIDICULOUS amount
JVC HA-E7-BU headphones - don't even match up to my Koss KSC-50's in terms of sound quality
Koss KSC-50's - Broken.
Sony EX70's - Broken.

So to sum it up, my system is pathetic and is without a doubt in the top 10% of crappy systems on this board. Well, what can I say.... at least I got rid of those ****ty $12 Sony E-818LP earbuds a long, long time ago...

1. My fancy turntable (TNT Mk V) doesn't remove enough surface noise from used records.

2. My speakers (Paradigm Ref. S40) could use more bass on pipe organs, etc.

3. Grado 325 are comfortable for only an hour or so....

4. My integrated (Linn Classik) has ridiculous "european" outputs which almost require goofy cable terminations.

Hmm...
MG Head - lacks air in the highs
META42 - could use some bass
Clou cables - There's something called Cardas...
HD600 - not comfy enough, don't have the Etymotic detail
Etys - "good" soundstage, not comfortable for very prolonged listening
Arcam - too cheap for its sound, too easy to swap output stage opamps.

HD600's - Don't evoke the same emotions as they used to

Art Di/O - I hate their outputs, and I have the dissatisfaction of knowing that I could upgrade it for another 200$ or so

Philips SBC-890 - Part of the exterior broke, I had to tape it back together

AKG K501's - Leak sound like a beeyatch

MG Head DT (when I had it) - It actually took me further away from the music as opposed to closer to it.

KSC-35's - I wish they were portapros

D-25S - Skips a lot, and won't play certian cd's

Etymotic ER-6 - too uncomfortable for me to bare

Airhead - Has that "made in china" feel to it.

Vinyl (in general) - You have to get up to turn over the record

Old source -- I want SACD. My interconnects are dirty (need Jude's pro-gold treatment). I can't stand that my portable rig is all battery driven (I've lost the adapter I bought for my D-131 source and my amp is all batteries). My phones rule, however.

That's the word I was looking for...

I'll second that

I don't know exactly where in the chain this happens, but the very lowest octave (or 2 maybe) of bass seems to be compressed, and in some cases non-existant, and it happens across all my 'systems' so, could even be just my ears...

and the treble is occasionally sharper than washing your face with lime juice just after a shave... but I think some of that has to do with the CD mastering

Cary SLI-80 amp-Just sounds OK,not great like everybody thinks

Avante Garde Duo Loudspeakers-Never sounded right in my house, the most disappointed I have ever been with an audio purchase.

Any Triangle loudspeaker-complete junk,I paid full retail for these.

Rogue Audio 99 preamp-the phono stage is awful, the remote is worse.

Musichall MMF-5 turntable-impossible to set-up without first installing adustable feet.Every single one I sold has been traded back in and/or upgraded.

Marantz SA-14 SACD player-$2800 for redbook playback this bad?

NAD c-440 tuner-What was I thinking. This single piece is why I will never sell NAD.the worst tuner I have yet used.

Most of my vintage gear-just sounds "vintage".an aquired taste at best.

Sony DVP-NS500V-so light that large cables have pulled it from the top shelf of my rack.Loooooooong burn-in.

Grado RA-1-is there such a thing as too neutral?lie to me and pump up the bass.

Senn HD600/580-Where is da love? I fall asleep every time I wear them.

Benz cartidges-Who did they pay off to get such great reviews?I can't give these away to people who know better.

There you have it.I will never repeat any of this and don't ask me any questions about anything I posted here.
