Whoa!  That looks great! 
I'm glad you had some luck at Home Depot.  Excellent.  (And your photo reminds me to get out and order some spare SS tubes!)  Not sure what you have in mind for power light, but to me, a steampunk design pretty much requires a jeweled pilot light from the 1930s.  I imagine you could get the parts then just light the jewel with an LED instead of a 6v light which could require extra parts or trafo.  The LED will just require a resistor or two.

funny you should say that about the jewel...I thought about this for another amp and decided it was too much...it would be perfect for this one... and thank all you guys for the kind comments...

I haven't had much time to work on the steamer, but I was able to fab up a copper tray for the gears which I will inset on one of the sides. I also have the top accent all cut and polished. I got a couple of coats of polyurethane on most of the panels. I have a bit of wood work left and a few more accents to finish...here is another look...

Wow, I found some time to work on the steamer a little more, I cant believe its been over a year since I worked on it. Anyway, heres some pics of the work I did today...
