I spotted a second hand Stax SRM-T1 somewhere in good condition. Since I'm still looking for a better alternative to my HEV70, I'm wondering how the SRM-T1 performs with the HE60 and what is a good price for the unit?

By the way, the same seller has a Stax ED1 Monitor for sale. Does that add much to the sound?

I really like the He90 when driven by my T1, there is definitive synergy there. Mine is modded quite a bit but there is still the same sonic signature. They go for between 300-450$.

The ED-1 came in two versions, both tailored to an exact headphone signature so while it works with the HE60 it is far from ideal. The HE60 is diffuse eq'ed by design and adding more wouldn't make them better.

I haven't heard the HE 60 in my system, but the HE 90 has better synergy with the SRM-T1 (modified -- tubes and internal cabling) than with the SRM-007tII, despite the latter's slightly higher accuracy. Hope this helps anyway...

There's certainly better synergy between the T1 and the HE60 than there is between the T1 and the various models of Lambda.

Don't use the ED-1 with your HE60s, they're already diffuse field equalised.

I used that combo for a while and am still hanging onto my T1 in case I make the time to do the Spritzer and Jazz modifications to get the most out of it. It's advantages - tube sound, two 'Pro' and one 'Normal' outlet - make it a bargain at the price point for multiple electrostatic owners.

P.S. I doubt you'd ever use the HEV70 again.

That sucks!
Better luck next time an SRM-T1 show up for sale.

An SR-404 is also part of the set. It's too much hassle for me to resell those two things just for the amp.
Some sort of old Stax sampler cd is also part of the set. Kind of cool, I didn't know they sold that once.
