Which one is better for the money?
Which one is less coloured and with more power reserves?
What about them driving the 4070?

gomincha, I'm prejudiced towards the SR323S because I like the fact that there are no tubes to fool with. Granted it will not play as loud as the SRM-717, but is is lushious and you can't go wrong with either choice. It's Stax. Can't lose, period! EarHead1

Yup, a modified 727 is just lovely.  A more powerful and refined version of the 323.

Would that be the same for the SR-009 ? TIA

I would keep the 727 stock for the 009 to tame that top end a bit.

So stock 727 and 009 would be an acceptable pairing?

The 009 is still the weak link but the rolled off top end on the 727 helps to alleviate the 009 issues.  Personally I'd just modify the 727 and get a 007mk1 as it is simply better in every way...

I have the Mk1s and 4070s and I like the SRM-717 with them although I think it's a little too edgy and dry. That's the reason I ordered a GES.
