Now we have 3:3 is it so padam? :)
I have the feeling bass quantity on both will be the same but with the smoother not too forward midrange you can hear louder with the 009s to get more slam. Time will tell. You guys talked about lower extension. What is with midbass area on 009 vs 009s?

@padam
Have you the link to the chinese comparison?

Louder ? With 009 I am already slamming myself to deaF around 88-90dB by iPhone app measurements....are we talking about listening at 120Db to get the slams ? Just kidding

This seems to have yet diverse 009 and 009S again. So at the end of the day, you keep both !!!! Lol

I definitely don't feel any need to keep both. I've already made a trade of one 009 to a friend. The other, might post for sale in the coming weeks, or after the noisy driver issue is resolved on my 009S. I'm probably negtively affecting its resale value here lol.

Headamp is gonna take great care of me on that issue. Definitely glad I stopped the direct-from-Japan gray market purchasing; won't be doing that again. Stax has previously reduced the USA pricing discrepancy, and the extra bucks are well worth it for security in your purchase.

The SR009 was a little too bright but in other aspects the perfect headphone. Maybe a bit more slam but not to touch the other aspects.
Seems the mids are definitely fixed with the SR009s. I hope for little more midbass slam vs 009. When people said lower bass what they mean low bass rumble under 50Hz or midbass? For Rock and Metal I need hard hitting drums in the midbass area.

This is well under 50Hz. The midbass for rock and metal is perfectly fine; no substantive difference to me. I wouldn't like them better if it affected that.

I posted this in the Stax thread - but trying to figure out how I can demo the 009S without the 009S.

We don’t have measurements for the 009S yet? Would love to eq my 009 so I can get an idea of the changes. For those who have tried them any reccomendations on eq that Amy be able to coarsely approximate these changes? I would assume technicalities are relatively equal.

Receive my 009S's in the afternoon, tomorrow. I can use both my 009 and the new S in the same amp so it will make A/B'ing them a lot simpler.

I heard there was one person in the US who had a small issue (it was on a note in the shipment from Stax) shows how good they are about QC if they are prepared to warn of an issue with one pair of Headphones. Imagine what would happen if some other manufacturers adopted the same philosophy.

I will post photos here.

What did the note say?

Got mine yesterday.
The 009 is at times a little strident. (I have always liked them though)
The 009S is not. Better mids. Soundstage a little more than 009.
Haven’t noticed much difference in the bass yet.
Subtle differences but an improvement overall.
009S is now my favorite headphone.
Listened with Megatron.

SR-009S article from China (with T8000)
If I get it right, it says the bass has 'improved', but not increased in quantity or extension.

A Cock has longer tails feathers without having longer tail feathers, but each cock will look different from one another by the tail feather without being able to tell the tail feathers !

I don’t even know what I read or write, I gotta hear it myself. Thanks for sharing

SR-009S have arrived today, no time to listen to them yet. I will plug in the 009's so I can swap them over easily.

Question for you guys: How long do you allow for burn in ? 200 hours or so?

Photos attached.
