I couldn't tell much difference between the 009 and 009S, but I did prefer my modded 007A to both of them. They were both too light on bass for me.

The 009s was warmer than both 009 and l300limited when I demo them. The 007 is warmest with laid back sound. I would rank them as follow
    Brightness 009 l300le 009s 007
    Bassslam 007 l300le 009s 009
    Bass quality 009s 009 007 l300le
    Politeness/laid 007 009s 009 l300le
While 009 is brighter than l300le it is not fatiquing , my ranking is based off stax and hifiman amps

Thank you for this answer. Would you say that the 009S is just as detailed as the 009 and worth the upgrade or is the 009 more detailed? I have heard many say the 009 has more detail and the 009S is a little warmer which I interpret to mean a little less detail with a little more bass. Feel free to correct me if I am wrong.

Guys in Europe, what is the wait time on this like at the moment?

For my main headphone I don't want to go through any more intermediate steps..
Bar the cost of the actual headphone what is a good medium level amplifier?

I heard the both, the 009 & 009S this past weekend at CJ NYC driven by the Stax SRM-007tll and both sounded very, very nice! I've owned the 009/007Mk2 as well as the Mjolnir KGSShv/KGST & HeadAmp BHSE, and if I was going to do it all over again, I'd be happy with the Stax SRM 007tll.

[IMG]I’m using this headamp with the 009S.

The 009S is a little warmer than the originals with less high frequency emphasis but all the detail is still there

being a stax purist since 1982, I had to get the srm t8000.
yes i have read all the posts and much respect to the kg designs
    - enjoying my 009s for the remains of the day...less sound makes music listenable.

kinda cross posting, my stax 009s & t8000 sns are > 1300. we appear to the most silent, unspoken owners in head fi. untill now

Hi Everyone, I've embarked on the purchase of the SR-009s and I need to configure my small NYC space for the headphones and the new amp. Really hoping that anyone who has the 009s can send along two specs I couldn't find online: 1. The length of the non-detachable headphones cable and 2. the exact width of the headphones cable. I know these are relatively weird questions, but I'd really appreciate this information. Thanks!

Specified cable length is 2.5 meters. I don't have an 009 but if the 007 is a similar design cable, it is 20mm wide by 2mm thick.

guess its 8ft long and 3/4 in wide. (awg 14?) did not measure actual analog distance. no rulers in my PC/Audio room.

using the 009s with the srm t8000 via the balanced xlrs. increased gain expected. the top end got smoother or the bottom filled out.
listening to Arianna's latest who was very bright with the SE inputs, same dac sony ta. guess the other half of that tube differential ip is working.

Thank you very much, JimL11 and formyears. A friend is building for me a custom storage box to protect the Stax from dust and I was able to send him the dimensions he needs to get started. I was at the NYC CanJam and I heard the SR-009s with the SRM-007tII and the SRM-T8000. Even though I could hear some differences, they both sounded pretty darn good to me. I was surprised to have liked the sound of the SRM-007tII. Since I cannot afford the SRM-T8000, I am choosing between the SRM-007tII and mjolnir-audio KGSSHV (the smallest and least expensive unit). Does anyone have experience with the latter? Any other relatively more affordable amp that I'm overlooking? Thanks again.
