Hi - I don't know if I have the right thread, but I believe it may be a computer audio issue. I have connected my computer sound to a Cambridge Audio DacMagic DAC - so all sourced information goes through the DAC therefore bypassing the onboard computer soundcard.
I have been successfully running my dynamic setup through a Little Dot MK III amp with no problems. Recently I puchased two separate STAX setups - a Stax SR-5 / SRD-6 combo and a Stax SRX Mark 3 / SRD -7 combo. I hooked up both energizers correctly to a Technics SA-410 New Class A Receiver, one to the main speaker terminals and the other to the auxillary speaker terminals, and ran RCA connects from the Aux Out to the DacMagic. For several weeks everything worked fine as I switched back and forth between the dynamic setup and the electrostatic setup - it was simply a matter of putting the appropriate RCA interconnect through the DacMagic.
Here's the problem - a few days ago the Stax Energizer / Technics SA-410 stopped working and all I can to operate is the dynamic setup. When running the stax setup it appears that the music is there and being received, but I do not get any sound through the headphones. My computer sound settings say, "Speakers C-Media USB Headphone Set Working". I have tried varios setups and to no avail, all I get is the dynamic setup to work - can anyone help me solve this dilemms - I think it must be some computer software setup, but I am not sure.

Yes - I'd try hooking up some speakers.

I'm not sure, but hooking two energizers up to the same receiver might be dangerous to the amp. Even if you switched one to the other, there's a slight period of time where both energizers might have been connected through the main speakers + auxiliary speakers. That might have presented too much of a load (too low impedance) for the amp to handle.

Someone with more knowledge of a Stax energizer impedance would need to reply. I've had one connected to a receiver before, but not two of them to both speaker outputs.

Any help on tombs input re/impedance and load to amp?

You need to verify if the receiver is sending any output to the speaker terminals and of course that the switch on the energizer box is set for the headphones. I do not understand having both boxes connected since the SRD-7 has two headphones outputs already and can drive two at the same time. I have the SRD-6 and the manual does states that two boxes can be in use at the same time. Since you stated that the setup worked before I would go back to basic troubleshooting to find out if the receiver is giving any output to the speaker terminals or to your speakers. My SRD-6 which I no longer use does not have fuses inside and has two transformers inside for voltage and matching to the headphones. If it was me I would just use the SRD-7 only since it has the two Stax plugs for two headphones unless there is something I do not know about and I do not have the SRD-7 box. The boxes need at least 10 watts of power to work with the headphones. If there is any fuses blown it would be on the receiver side. First you need to verify normal operation of your receiver and go from there.
