I've ordered the Stax 507 from PriceJapan. I haven't ordered the amp yet, but I plan to purchase it from the US rather than from Japan because I don't want to deal with an extra step-down transformer and also don't want to have to deal with repair/warranty issues with an imported product. I have budgetary concerns and am considering a Stax SRM 323 S. I've also seen discussions of the Stax SRM-1/MK-2 and the Stax SRM 717. Would the SRM-1/MK-2 be a better alternative to the 323 S? I know the SRM1MK2 would be an older amp with its own aging issues. And the 717 might be out of my price range. I read that the 507 is considered bright and that the 323 is fairly neutral and that might not be a good combination. However, wouldn't EQ be a good fix for that? That brings another question. What would be good EQ software? I'm running a late 2012 IMac 27 with BitPerfect app. I don't have a DAC yet but that would be the last part of the puzzle once the amp was purchased.
