After pondering a new setup for home use a while I landed on the HD650 + Creek OBH21SE (about 730 euro, 6200 nok). I really wanted Grado, as mentioned in another thread postet yesterday - but the from all the good "press" the Senns are getting I think they should be good, and more comfy to boot. Most importantly they come with local warranty. I prefer not having to ship stuff around the world to get it fixed when broken...

But when I called the place that's supplying the Creek amp the guy on the other end sounded almost wild with exitement over the Stax 3030 set - which they could sell for about 823 euro (7000 nok). Apparently they have a an earlier pricetag of 1300 euro (about 11 000 nok).

Grado SR80s are what I have now and I quite like the way they sound. Not too dark, not too light.

Should I stick to my original plan, or go with Stax? I'll be dropping by to listen to it, and probably buy one of the solutions friday. But the guy was going on and on about amps not being burned in. I subscribe to the theory of membranes in speakers needing a burn in period, but integrated circuitry? Nah... sounds like a load of bunk to me...(?)

Help me! Now I'm confused... again! O_o

(edit)
Nevermind. I've been de-confused

I would go with the Stax in your case,if you can or will buy a used set.For this money a used Koss ESP950 and SRM-1MK2 is the best you can buy.

I would go with the Stax since you have a chance to hear them and make sure if that the headphone you will like. There is not many place here that you can audition the Stax.

If you think a Grado SR80 is not too bright, then I think you should go with Stax, as a 650 just won't suit. I own a 650 and to me an sr80 is very bright.
