latley theres been alot "whats the best headphone under $XX"

and im starting to get worried that people will start to get unrealistic ideas on how much quality you can get for 20-30 bucks, the straw that broke my camels back is a thread that i saw today, one of the members in this forum was asking about a set of good IEM´s for less then $20, now, we have to mantain a foot in the relm of reality,

yes, the KCS75 are good, and some people say that the JVC FX33 sound decently (personaly i hate them, had 2 pairs), but i think that these people should know that the true bargins in this world are few and far apart, even the mighty Crossroads Mylarone X3 suffers from some build quality issues and is NO match what so ever against a atrio M5 or a pair of Super.fi´s, im not saying that people should not look for deals or bargins, im just saying that people should be realistic about what their getting,

everything has its price, and if you want good sound, you should shell out money for decent equipment,

btw, wasnt there a project for a sticky thread with good and decent headphone prices ?

anyways, those are my thoughts

im not against bargin hunters, and im not against people who just want to spend 20 bucks, im just starting to worry those people might expect alot more then their getting,

another issue is the lack of use of the search function,

Cheap is good. you don't have to worry about losing it, damaging it. I have been using my Koss in my office for the last 15 years. I have gone through 3 pairs for various reasons.
Cheap is good. I like cheap.

Yeah, my main concern is just seeing basically the exact same threads 10 times a day.

edit: I never really see any mod action taken here. It would help a lot if mods just closed redundant threads.

At least when "those" people find out that they didn't really got much bang for the buck they only spend 20 bucks to find that out, not the "regular" 300 bucks wich could "just as easily" be a misbuy...
Imo, nothing wrong with people wanting to buy a 20 dollar hp and coming here for advice. That is also what this site is for, right...asking for advice...Just my 2 cents...

I wouldn't worry about that. If people are asking about stuff for $20, they've clearly not experienced the better items. It's a step up, at least it might be progression.

agreed, but that's the case with all forums I've frequented.

You got to start somewhere.

At least people want something good for their money. Beats just picking the coolest looking thing at Best Buy and thinking it sounds good when it sucks. Plus, many will buy something better later.

Oh and the marshmallows do suck!

Before I actually entered this evil place I was under the impression from reading some electronics catalogs that you could probably get a really nice set of cans in the $50 to $70 range and that truly top-of-the-line phones were probably in the $299 area. Really good stuff with real leather trim!

Reality sets in rather quickly. What may be considered unfortunate is that a newer member doesn't spend at least a half and hour brousing the forum sponsors and lurking the forums for a few minutes before looking for something super inexpensive.

But then again; I can also imagine someone wanting to jump right on in with both feet.

An argument for what? It's not a statement in support of, or appealing to, any side. It's an unbiased observation. There's no argument, it's what happens, and what will always happen.

So, aside from making a non-sensical post, what do you want to say?

I think that people generally want to start out cheap, to test the waters.

How many people here started out with modest cans and ended up splurging on truly hifi equipment? I'm sure lots would say amen to that. People seek advise on true upgrades here often too, so that sort of balances it out a bit.
