Since Tangent's Pimeta layout has pads for both SMD and the DIP8 buffers, is it possible (is there enough space) to stack buffers by soldering down an SMD BUF634, inserting a wirewrap DIP8 socket then popping in a DIP8 buffer?

So far as space goes, the SMD pads are on the back of the PCB, so there is no space issue at all unless you were trying to mount the board in a very shallow case (like a Serpac H65), in which case I don't know if the rear-PCB mounting of the SO8 would raise the board up too much, be problematic in that scenario.
