sr225- Silver grill vs black grill

I bought a set with silver grills. Just wanted to know what the difference was with the black grills. Which ones are newer?

I believe SR-225s come with silver grilles only.

What ?! Black grills on a SR-225 ? That must be an old pair, black metal grills only appeared on SR-100/200/300/black 325's and on SR-325i/RS-1/2/GS-1000's as far as I know.

Do you have pics of it with the black grilles ?

Whoa. I never actually realised they have the black grille version (was looking at the option of getting a SR-225 back then and I could only find silver grille ones). I stand corrected. So I'm guessing the black grille version is newer then?

If you want metal Grados, the SR-325(i) and Alessandro MS-2(i) are your only choices.

Silver and black grills are different because I read about it somewhere...

Though I'm not sure, I think both those pictures are silver grille. One just has an angle to the light, the other has no direct light on the grille.

one shows flats and the other shows bowls...which going by pads, would imply the silver grilled ones are newer. But...I haven't seen enough packages to know for sure.

Black metal grill is the vintage one. There is also a vintage SR225 on ebay right now, rare I'd say. A very good chance they have black driver cloth and possibly pink drivers. Someone here should pick that pair up
