Hi guys newb here, just want to check out with you guys about this 2 phones. It seemed that both of them had a lot of great reviews from websites and forums especially the SR-60. I just want to know which will be a better 1 for music and a little of movies and gaming.

Either 1 of this will be my first headphone, so i don't really want to have a bad experience. Thx in advance btw!

On absolute terms I should think the Grado would have a technically superior sound.

However, the SR60 doesn't really have a soundstage congenial to gaming or movings. Then again, I'm not sure if the SJ5 would, either.

Ic... But does it affect much? Because my main purpose is more on music though. Will a HD-485 make all these factors good?

Aside form the sound quality alot will depend on where you will use them:

The SR60 is an OPEN headphone and leaks sound both in and out, and as such not ideal for use on the street where noise will interfere with the music, nor is it good in places like libraries where the sound leaking out will disturb others nearby.
The SJ5 is (I believe) a closed phone and will be better suited in the situations mentioned above.

If this is a necessary consideration for your intended use, then I suggest you may want to limit your search to closed headphones.

Yea i notice tat it is an open headphone but i am quite ok with that. So in terms of sound quality where does the both stand? Or do you have some better cans at around this price range?

Where will you be listening to these? On what?

You can get some great recommendations here if you provide a few more details.

Depends also what you listen to. I have used sj5's, and personally I think the sr60's sound much better. Not as much soundstage, but again it depends what you're listening to. For the metal I listen to, the "in your face" grado sound suits nicely.

As a side note, I prefer the k81 to both. While it can be a bit bloated in the bass sometimes, I think it is a better headphone overall. It has way more isolation than the sj5 (though you said you didn't care about that) and is built much better. sj5 feels cheap/plasticky, and so do grado's.

Hope this helps!

I have some SR 60's and have recently purchased some Senn HD 580, and although I find my senn's better for general all day use, The Grado's are better sounding for Music, but since I listen at loud volumes the tend to fatigue after awile, by pure musical sound alone, Grado's rule!!!!!!!!

But I still love my 580's

Oh thx USAstrat. I am was pretty confused with the k81 and the sj5 too. Many ppl liked the SJ5 over the K81. But u stated the pros and cons of it, does make my view clearer.

Hmm i didn't know the Grado is such a good headphone that you can even compare it with your Senn HD-580. Will take a look at it. BTW, can you compare the SR-60 with the MS1?
