Hi

I am a bit of a novice and I just needed to know a couple of questions which are probally really basic

I have recently purchased the audioengine 5 powered speakers, I absolutely love them, but I also want to stop using my Ipod as a source and start streaming music wirelessly to them using lossless and the squeezebox 3 my questions are as follows

1) is there any loss in quality streaming wirelessly instead of using the ethernet connection? and is there a maximum distance from the router before signal strenght reduces?

2) What lossless format should I import my music library with and what program should I use?

3) does the squeezebox music player have to be running all the time? and is it a resources hog?

4) The only input on my audioengine 5 speakers is a 1/8" stereo mini jack, would I connect to the squeezebox using a 1/8" audio cable to the headphone out OR connect it to the RCA output on the squeezebox using a RCA to 1/8" cable and is there any difference in audio quality between using the RCA to 1/8" cable or a RCA to RCA cable which I can't do!

Thanks

1. No difference whatsoever. I don't know about distance, depends on the flavor of wireless network you're using.

2. Flac files, use EAC to rip. EAC is not too user friendly, but you can find lots of guidance online, just do a Google search.

3. The SlimServer has to be running unless you're listening to Internet radio on the Squeezenetwork, in which case the computer doesn't need to be on. You can also have Slimserver running on certain NAS boxes. Slimserver is not a resource hog.

4. RCA outs would be the preferred way.
