I've got a bunch of square capacitors, except I've not got a clue how to read them and diging on the google didnt come up with much.

Something like:
222J100 or 223J100 etc...
Is there some knowledge that I didnt find somewhere out there on the internet?

The one on the left is probably some type of ceramic, and the green ones are metallized polyester. Ceramics are good for bypassing and other general-purpose cap needs, but not good for audio paths or critical filters. Metallized polyester is a little better, but I'd still only use it in the audio path when space is at an absolute premium.

So what's a good type of cap to use that's even better... I know.. I'll RTFM... it's all new to me. I've built my first one about 3 years ago, but it was very dodgy, actually the design was some web page I dont have any more. I'll post a picture of it on another thread to see if anyone knows that layout.
More recently I've built a kit supplied by zigis, very nice PCB lay out expect I need to do some resoldering and the copper came off, my fault. The sound is very good too.
