Does anybody have both?
I have the 555's so if someone can tell me how the 240 compares to the 555 I will have a good idea what the 240's sound like......

Thanks for any info

Hi, I had the 240s (55 ohm? I think) for years and liked them a lot. A little bass shy compared to the 555s which I now have. For the same price it would be hard to choose as they are both better (and worse) at different music. Crisper airier highs and mid-highs on the 240s for classical, jazz. Much more bass punch to the 555s for pop, rock, dance.
For surround or games I'd definitely go for the 555s.
I was always wanting some "punch" on the AKGs before I even new what it was!
Both good phones for the money and I saw (and missed) some 240 (600 ohms) for 45-48 dollars on ebay. the other day.(They NEED an amp!) They seem to be turning up a lot which tells me a lot of people might be liking the newer phones better. Just MO but I think that's what you asked for.

Good luck, Tony

iirc 240S is the only version still manufactured.
