I used to own a Panasonic portable CD player that had a 40 second buffer and "Anti-skip" technology. They sold it with a neoprene waist pack and I was pretty excited to go jogging with it.
First time I went jogging I got 40 seconds of music and then the damn thing wouldn't play. Seems like the majority of portable CD players are good for jogging only if you hold them in your hand. That sucked for me as I like to have my hands free.
I traded the CD player to a friend for the Nomad II and that player was nice, but I hated having to change the music everytime, what a pain in the butt.
So I finally ended up getting a MD player and to anyone who jogs I highly recommend MD. It's small and light, you can record numerous discs and just pick a disc and go. With the portable mp3 I found if you were in a hurry you ended up listening to the same music all the time.
One of my friends bought the top Sony DCJ-01 and he said he can run with it in a waistpack and it does not skip. However it does bounce up and down a lot. MD has a big advantage here as since it's so light and small it hardly moves while you're jogging.
