I recently bought a Sennheiser PC 363D gaming headset second hand. The sound quality is good but not great, while the microphone is *excellent*. But that's not the point of this post. It also came with a small "Sennheiser G4ME 3D" DAC/Amp/DSP that's supposed to provide virtual surround sound. I wasn't terribly impressed with the surround feature, but for fun I hooked it up to my speakers. And the result was very positive. So I'm wondering what is inside this little adapter. Unfortunately, the bracket/cable guide on the DAC prevents me from plugging in any of my other headphones, which have bulky connectors. I'm wondering if it's worth the effort to mod the DAC, or get some kind of angled cable extender.
