Well, can't wait to get it! I price-matched it to buyeretail.com's 303.50 USD, but I think it was already about 290 USD in-store. They said they would have the item in about next week. Also, my Total BitHead is getting ordered pretty soon. Can't wait to test them out! By the way, these are one of the best headphones at the price range for classicals, right?

Well, it all depends. What's best for a solo cello may not be best for a full orchestra. But yeah they're great phones for Classical. Congrats.

I also bought my 650 at GC, special order.I think I had them match $289 but after tax and $5 shipping cost due to it being special order I paid around $310 total. It took less than 5 days I think.

I'm happy listening to all music on the 650, including classical.

Be sure to read some info about amplification as for classical music they might have sometimes a little bit too much of low frequencies.
At least that was my impression + famous "veil" but f.e. with X-cans v3 - stock tubes I found them rather pleasant.
BTW cello from this cd was really full bodied and rich in texture:

I guess they are OK for classical, especially smaller ensembles with lots of acousitical instruments (e.g. chamber music, solo violin, or cello, etc.) - although for acoustical material, I really prefer the rich, textured, organic tone body of the RS-1's that their wood chambers impart.

But... you may find them a bit "laid back" if you're not seeking a "laid back" sound, but a more forward, aggressive sound. If you're after a more forward, aggressive, more detailed sound, you'll need to make sure you're other components mate with them well, and you have the Zu cable upgrade, or possibly the Cardas (which is just a bit warmer than the Zu). Both of these cables brighten them up a lot, and give them a more forward, aggressive, detailed, textured sound - the Zu moreso, than the Cardas.

And... most of the reviews, I've seen suggest, the K701's may be good with classical, because they reportedly provide so much more detail and separation, and are inherently brighter.

They will price match any authorized online seller. Give them a website to look at when you go and they'll check it out, very simple.

But they have to have them in-stock first, right? I don't think my Guitar Center sells 650s; the best they have is the DT770s.

You will need to pay up front and have them place an order to Sennheiser.
