I want to make a longer cable for me HE-4xx and have everything but the wire. I was wondering if Speaker wire was a good solution or what I should be using. Thanks for your help!!

Speaker wire for headphone cable?

Hi Dan,
Speaker wire is a little too thick and heavy to be ideal for headphone cable... although you could use it. I highly recommend 24 gauge wire. Canare and Mogami both make starquad microphone cable that has 4 x 24 gauge conductors, which is great to use as general/starter headphone cable. If you feel like getting into more of the audiophile cabling, Cardas, Furutech and others have cable that you may find sounds a little better, but costs far more than the above.
