Hello everyone.

Im looking for new monitors/small floorstanders for my system. I listen to mainly rock (hard, alternative, progressive), jazz, fusion, and some electronic music. My room is quite small so I may have some placement issues. I would like to keep the costs below around $700 canadian.

I have been thinking about,
JM Cobalt 806
Linn Tukan/Kan
Epos M5/12.2
Rega R3
Von schweikert VR-1

There are also usually good deals and used/demo Totem gear.

My system currently:
Rega P5/ Dynavector 10x5
Accuphase E-202 (recently serviced, brought up to spec)
Linn Index (replacing)
Caimbridge Azur 640c (will be given to my brother soon)

I hope to find a fast and rythmical speaker that will mate with my system well. Any suggestion are welcome.

Castle speakers have been recommended to me by quite a number of people. I haven't heard these myself but I certainly love their looks. I am particularly attracted to the Castle Richmond 3i. They are said to be very balanced-sounding.

Cheers!

Edit:
Epos would go well with your requirements of a 'fast' speaker too. Very communicative units with clean mid-band. Reasonable load too.

I have a pair of Rega Juras, one generation back from the R3, and they are quite musical for the price. Several Rega dealers have mentioned that they like the R line better than the older models. My living room is not that large and they seem to fill it with sound quite nicely, especially with jazz and vocals. Plus, they have a high WAF, seeing that they are made of cherry wood. I would imagine that the R3's are worth consideration. Although, I have been curious about the Von schweikert VR-1's!

i liked the VR-1's a lot when i heard them, great bang-for-buck.

for small floorstanders, since you're a canuck... have you thought about Energy's new Reference Connoisseur line? the RC-30 seems to have a similar footprint as the Rega line, and if it's truly the upgrade over the old Connoisseur series that it's made out to be, the RC should be quite outstanding. (i have not heard them myself, though).
