Spatial Arrangement of Bookshelf/Reference Speakers

What is the best way to arrange said speakers? same horizontal plane as my head? and what is the best spacing b/w the speakers, finally how far back from them should I be

I am pushing some cheap Pioneer speakers w/ a T-amp; and it sounds quite good ( better than the ****** altecs i sold on ebay )

Equilateral triangle is usually recommended, with speakers and you at the vertices. Distance will depend on your speakers, and on your room/furniture limitations. Height of tweeters (or of mid point between tweeters and mid drivers) at ear level when you sit at the sweet spot.

I wouldn't spread the speakers out too far, particularly with bookshelf speakers. You will end up with a dead spot in the middle. Keep them 6 feet apart, as close to the level of your head when you're sitting down listening as possible.
