I am looking for a source that will have GREAT synergy between this
amp-headphone combination. I don't want to mention price, although I do not want to spend more than is necessary. I would prefer to use Itunes from my Imac. Please, can anyone recommend a great source that is hopefully reasonably priced ( meaning I want the best sound but don't want to go crazy price-wise. Or, you can recommend at several different price points.
Thanks in advance.

So, by "source", we can assume you mean "DAC"?

Basically a new & better type link than AES, Coaxial, BNC optical link which has much less jitter. And your Mac probably has this output, nice! Due to it newness, only a few DAC has it yet. Like Stello DA100s, Northstar DAC etc.

Probably something warmish to go with RPX-33.

Warmish ? Does this describe the Stello DA100 and Northstar Dacs?
An does this connection allow my mac to play Itunes through the Dac, thus not needing a transport?

That is Stello DA100S, not the DA100. Stello is warmish. No idea re: Northstar but seem have fan base in HF too, check posting. You can just connect direct to your Mac (assuming your Mac got this output) and play itune, no need transport. As I don't have I2S, you best check out with DA100S owener who is using mini Mac to see whether any complain re: jitter noise from Mac. Also how it compare to CD transport (I suspect CD still better but maybe wrong, especially given nowaday you can buy download that is 24bit 196khz.. plus the I2S. Best check.)

The NOS like Wavelength, Mdht Havana probably fit the bill too. The only thing you need to acertain is whether it has enough detail and is the bass enough. Really best to try one to see do you like it.
