Phillips SHP9500 $50.00 Open Back >>> Blown away >>> Was saving for X2's >>> I  believe I got most of the performance at 1/6 the price.
Sony MDR-V6 $65.00 Closed Back >>> Blown Away Again >>> These are slightly more accurate than the 9500's but not as comfortable and lack the sound stage of an open back headphone

I have been through:

Numerous Sennheiser's
Fostex TR50P modded
Grado 225i

I would say End Game IEM Etymotic 4p's but I foolishly sold them.

Not interested in purchasing any more headphones.

What open-back headphones from AKG/Sennheiser/Beyerdynamic have you listened to, to compare the SRH9500 to ?
And I agree about the MDR-V6's blowing away anything else closed at that price range, and much higher.

Sennheiser:
HD 424 >>> Wish I had kept them more for having a "Vintage" item than for it's audio characteristics
HD 545 >>> Not bad, I could have lived with them. The Phillips are better
PX 201 >>> Not bad audio wise, The build quality was lacking
HD 25 II >>> I liked the style, Could not get these in the comfort zone

AKG >>> Have not heard these. The 7xx from Massdrop sounds interesting
Beyer >>> The DT 880's crossed my radar but I did not hear them

It is impossible to hear every headphone. I have heard many others over the years that I do not own. Satisfied with what I have.

All those headphones are in the same tier range as your Philips.
The AKG 7xx & DT 880 would probably be a step up though.
