Soundmagic HP150/HP151 Impressions Thread

I have been quite pleased with the Dekoni platinum series earpads (link) for the last few years, providing better bass definition (not 'volume' of) and comfort / isolation. Those are the only from Dekoni that fit the HP-100 & 150's aside from their other hybrids with dimples and velour ones which are all worse and brighter absorbing more bass. Alas they are wearing out, so actually yesterday I ordered some sheepskin leather earpads from Brainwavz (link). Unless you're in a hurry (?), I'd wait for me to test these out and give a shout back on the result.
Yes, please post back after testing.
Looking like those Sheepskin leather ear pads are on sale :)

The ear pads on my Soundmagic HP151 are starting to wear out.
What are some recommended replacement ear pads?

I got these on eBay:
https://www.ebay.de/itm/254242029853

Not original replacement pads, though. They are a lot thicker than the original pads and make the headphones sound fuller. Not too much change in terms of soundstage but still I see them as an improvement.

In case you are interested I can look up the exact dimensions I ordered.

Yea, have no idea on the HP151 cup size?

I ordered the pads with 95mm diameter. They fit very tightly (see picture) and at first it was hard to fit them. I guess the 100mm are fine, too.

I've sent my HP-100's back to my local hobbyist friend to redo the connections on the custom silver aftermarket cable to a shorter connector (silver cables improve these hadphones by adding extra detail and speed, albeit a slightly brighter sound). So it will be a while longer until I get them back to test the Brainwavz sheepskin pads. If you want you can order them while still on sale, and they may fit other headphones, even out-of-spec headphones with earpad adapters from Socas 3D. For the earpad size, I was told from my modding friend this is the correct dimensions (copied from the Brainwavz sheepskin leather:
Thickness: 30mm | Height: 100mm | Width: 100mm | Inner Hole: 55mm x 55mm

And this is the Dekoni earpads I've been using for years that fit perfectly:

I was also told these from Beyerdynamic are very good and well sealed, giving good bass. I would be interested in hearing how these sound if someone wants to try these:

I have just sold off recently my more expensive closed back headphones, and have dug out from storage my hp151's as a stop gap before buying some more.
I can pick up on some areas where the 400 to 600 euro headphones are better, but really the 151's are making me question if all that extra money really brings any substantial improvement on my musical enjoyment.
I might just stick with the 151s for a while that cost me less than 80 euros.

Maybe try some thicker ear pads.
