I play a lot of games and I also like orchestral/electronic/metal music.

I am thinking about getting the SoundBlaster ZxR or the Asgard 2.

Current setup:

SoundBlaster Titanium Fatal1ty Pro -> Logitech Z-2300 speakers (amp) -> Sennheiser HD 650

Propose setup:

SoundBlaster ZxR -> Logitech Z-2300 -> HD 650

or

SoundBlaster Titanium Fatal1ty Pro -> Asgard 2 -> HD 650

What you recommend? Have I got this all wrong?

Logitech Z-8300 speakers?
Do you mean the Logitech Z-2300 2.1 speaker setup?

Did you disable the motherboard's on-board audio, in the BIOS, when you installed the Titanium card?

I've updated my first post as I managed to fix the issue (output was set to 32-bit not 24-bit) but I am still interested in the ZxR/Asgard2.

I would try to push you towards a Hifimediy optical DAC ($59) and a Bravo Ocean tube (hybrid) headphone amplifier ($80).

So Titanium > DAC > Bravo.
The Bravo comes with a separate line-output for the Logitechs.

Later on you could replace the Titanium with a Sound Blaster Z (used, $50-$60).
