Sound Rhyme impression thread

I’m about to buy SR5. I take any cables and tips recommendations. I’ll browse this thread to see what has already been told but any input is appreciated.

I’ll pair them with a GO bar from iFi Audio. I’ve heard the Cayin RU7 works fine too.

I mostly listen to experimental electronic music.

Thank you :)

Yes, but I can remove it some by tips
Can I ask, what the ‘vacuum effect’ refer to? I’ve a pair, my 1st iem. breaking in ‘cause I don’t listen often, but need some navigation help regards
this new aspect of the audio hobby. I’ve lots of experience with in room speakers but exactly what ‘suck out’ is the SR9 exhibiting compared to what
I haven’t heard…? Thnx

For me SR5 was too bright OOTB, and NiceHCK AceOrpheus helps to reduce treble brightness quite noticly. When I want more V-shaped sound I use Yongse Warcraft. Obviously, I had these cables before SR5 so why don't to use they with such cheap IEM :)
SR5 feature is special emotional presentation of mids. At the same time the bass is good and the treble is ok. So for your tonality tuning preferences you need to take this feature when you will choose a cable.

Thank you. Oh, has the borrower had the same experience?

Nope! Luckily I never have problems with this, even on non vented all BA IEM's.

Some people get a vakuum feeling in the ears when the IEM and tips seal 100%. I more or less don't feel this, other than if I pull well sealed IEM's straight out without breaking the seal carefully first.

I just ordered the custom dte900, had to wait 6 days after a long back and forth discussion. Worth the wait and can't wait to try it once it arrives 😁

Great looking shells, nice choice.

DTE900 treble is the highlight. Super fast drivers, unique presentation. Great IEM to have in your rotation.

Great! I'm looking forward to trying the DTE900 out after I was really impressed with the SR8 😁.

The SR8 managed to compete against $1-$3k IEMs and hopefully the DTE900 does the same as well 🔥.

I had some time comparing the dte900 and sr8. I understand it better now after reading back the forum. Here's what I found:

Subbass - dte900
Midbass - sr8
Lower mids - sr8
Upper mids - sr8
Lower treble - dte900
Upper treble - dte900
Air - draw

Vocals are more forward on the sr8 but dte900 is close second.

Soundstage goes to dte900, wider and better separation. Sr8 sounds very intimate, can get bit busy and mushed up on certain tracks.

Despite the dte900 having a custom looking shell compared to the sr8, I've no issues wearing it. Both are comfortable and the nozzles aren't large unlike some I've tried wearing.

They're both very musical, so it's just a matter of preference based on your playlist.

They're both ranked 1 on my IEM list. Goated IEMs 🐐

Personal ranking based on my collection:
1. Sr8/dte900
2. Aur Ascension
3. Yanyin canon 2
4. Simgot ea1000
5. Epz q1 pro

Thanks for posting your experience with the DTE900. I am just getting into the IEM world and ordered a pair of DTE900's during Black Friday sales. They should be here this week! I was possibly looking into the Yanyin Canon 2. What is your experience with that set of IEM's?

Yanyin canon 2 for me sounded too boomy and bloated in the bass. Both switches for the canon 2 didn't help much. Mids were good enough as it sounded warm, organic & natural. Also, the mids have enough detail and vocals were neither forward nor recessed, just right. Treble is very relaxing and never got shouty not sibilant at mid-high volumes.

I struggle getting the fit right despite its basic shell shape. Even the sr8 has a similar shell design to the canon 2 yet I have an easier time fitting the sr8 into my ear canal. I wouldn't recommend getting the canon 2 unless you got a really good discount.

The dte900 and sr8 ruined lower budget IEMs and even my Aur Ascension. The Ascension costs $700 whereas I got the dte900 and sr8 costed me $550 each (both custom faceplate), that's how good those 2 IEMs are imo.

Recently I compared my sr8 against elysian annihilator, forte ears Macbeth, campfire trifecta, Sony z1r etc. and overall they sounded like side grades at best despite my limited time comparing them all.

Hope this helps

Hey thanks a lot for responding. I have had quite a few people tell me that the DTE900 for the price is very hard to beat! Other folks have gone on to say that they found the sound quality produced by the DTE900's bested IEM's they had that cost upwards to $1000-$1500 which is pretty remarkable. As I mentioned I should have my set tomorrow so I can't wait to give them a listen. Anything else you would recommend in the $750-$1200 range. I have been lots of positive reviews on the 7th Acoustics Supernova as well.
